Tetra Tech is a multi-disciplined service firm offering civil engineering, surveying, land use planning, environmental and other related services. Our firm is currently looking for an entry level Civil CAD Designer. The entry level Civil 3D CAD Designer will be responsible for preparation of construction plans, working closely with the Professional Engineers and Designers on large private solid waste facilities, remediation, private residential, and public municipal projects. This position will work closely with senior staff members & Project Managers.

Your role:

We are looking for enthusiastic associates with CAD skills that are looking to continue to grow their skills to work in multiple drafting/modeling platforms to develop engineering drawings on a variety of projects across the nation. This position is responsible for providing a full range of drawing production and organization for site civil, piping, and process design. The successful candidate must be able to use computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) software, provide engineering drafting/design support for large private solid waste facilities, remediation, private residential, and public municipal projects This is a non-exempt, full-time position.

Under direct supervision from a Senior CAD Designer, Engineer, Geologist, or Project Manager; provide support for drawing layout, details, diagrams, and sketches, and provides supporting software computational work.

• Work closely with Project Managers and Professionals to set up and manage construction drawings;

• Prepare dimensional drawings, create and/or modify base drawings;

• Revise and update existing drawings to reflect design changes;

• Manage electronic document file structure, naming conventions in accordance with company standards, and assist with development and maintenance of CAD standards;

• Work a typical set of project documents from beginning to end with professional quality output;

• Prepare three-dimensional models for use in computations and designs;

• Work on multiple projects at the same time to successful completion;

• Checks drawings for completeness and accuracy;

• Follow CAD standards, whether the customer’s or Tetra Tech’s;

• Ability to coordinate with other disciplines on tasks to minimize rework and maximize efficiency; and

• Work with project teams on drawings which meet and exceed the customer’s requirements (bid and submittal phase).

  
  

Qualifications:

• Associate degree of completion in CAD drafting or related field from a technical trade school; OR any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities;

• Proficient in either or both AutoCAD and Civil 3D;

• Experience with ArcGIS, Carlson, Infraworks or 3Ds Max is a plus;

• Good mathematical skills and fundamentals in geometry and trigonometry, and analytical and problem-solving skills;

• Skilled in PC usage and associated software including Microsoft Office;

• Ability to work in a small office environment and be dependable to all team members;

• Able to efficiently schedule and manage time; and

• Able to meet project deadlines.
