Job TitleWildlife Damage Management Biologist Agency Texas A&M Agrilife Extension Service Department Wildlife Services Proposed Minimum Salary$3,022.03 monthly Job LocationVictoria, Texas Job TypeStaff Job Description Job Description Summary The Wildlife Damage Management Biologist, under direction, assists in planning, developing, administering, and providing wildlife damage management. Conducts wildlife damage management activities. Responsibilities Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with numerous agencies, organizations, institutions, industry groups, and individuals. Modifies or adapts established wildlife damage techniques as necessary to meet local conditions and addresses specific environmental, economic, or political considerations. Conducts operations in accordance with local, State, and Federal laws and regulations. Gathers, compiles, and evaluates data on damage or hazards caused by various wildlife species. Conducts wildlife damage management activities where there is a demonstrated need consistent with the planned use of any given area to prevent or reduce economic loss to property, to protect human health and safety, or agricultural resources. Assists in the monitoring of diseases and parasites that are transmissible to the human population, domestic animals, or property. Conducts demonstrations and training for coworkers, cooperators, or other interested groups on wildlife damage management activities, techniques, and program objectives. Coordinates, manages, and conducts wildlife damage management presentations and exhibits which are presented at livestock shows, fairs, agricultural field days, workshops, and a variety of educational institutions. Prepares and submits routine and special reports, observations, events, and other relevant data. Submits work product data into the management information system (MIS) on a weekly basis. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science or equivalent combination of education and experience. Two years of related experience in the control and management of wildlife predation. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of the principles and theories of wildlife biology, zoology, and a working familiarity with related sciences to plan and carry out wildlife damage management activities in a variety of settings. Knowledge of euthanizing and immobilizing agents and toxic material application procedures. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure understanding. Ability to interpret and apply local, State, and Federal policies, regulations, laws, and ordinances that affect wildlife damage management procedures. Registrations, Certifications, and Licenses: Valid driver’s license. State of Texas Pesticide Certification License, or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment. Other Requirements: Ability to exert moderate force. Ability to lift moderately heavy objects. All positions are security-sensitive.
