Duties:
- Serve as a hands-on coordinator to manage TVMDL’s information technology services under the direction of the AgriLife CIO. Information technology includes, but is not limited to, IT systems such as video, voice, and data networks; telecommunications; web and mobile application programming; system administration; audio/visual support; all related IT hardware/software; and, in conjunction with the AgriLife CISO, IT security.
- Manage policies and practices related to information technology resources and services. Create and communicate high-level work plans, schedules, and budgets. Perform as project manager, keeping AgriLife CIO and TVMDL leadership informed of schedule and cost performance, as well as other project performance indicators.
- Enhance data integrity by ensuring adherence to data standards, managing data entry points, and increasing the availability of data for decision making and reporting. This may include systems and staff integration, software package implementation, large, complex databases, and infrastructure planning.
- Maintain and regularly test the agency's IT Disaster Recovery Plan under advisement and direction of the AgriLife CIO and Information Security Officer (ISO). Coordinate with those responsible for Business Continuity Plans. Develop and maintain Agency’s enterprise information security planning and programs in conjunction with the AgriLife ISO.
- Work alongside laboratory professionals to understand agency processes. Recommend and implement technology solutions to improve efficiency, accuracy, and throughput. Develop and foster positive relationships with internal and external business users of technology services. Work with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements in relation to the laboratory information management system. Serve as liaison with the vendor to determine and develop required functionality within application.
- Remain current in the field of information technology, including emerging information.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
-Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
-Ten years of related experience in IT. Five years supervisory experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Knowledge of – Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications. Knowledge of project and operations management. Knowledge of team leadership skills including motivating team and group processes, team collaboration, empowering, coaching, mentoring, training, ethical integrity, championing diversity and inclusiveness, and supervising staff. Knowledge of strategic thinking and planning. Industry related skills to include knowledge of the IT industry and trends, knowledge of IT security regulations, and proficiency with the Information Technology Interface Library (ITIL).
Ability to – Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Internet Access – Employee must have access to adequate Internet access at their home site to facilitate any remote support services as required on weekends or during scenarios such as pandemics.
