What we want The Health Science Center (HSC) is looking for a Clinical Research Scientist II to serve as a member of the Center for Genomic and Precision Medicine team. The Clinical Research Scientist II, under general supervision, is responsible for data curation, working with clinical trials, and consulting with patients. This person must be professional, enjoy working in a high-volume environment and be able to apply strong organizational skills while being flexible in their daily routine. Position Details: This position is based in the Texas Medical Center in Houston, but will require weekly travel to Bryan/College Station, no more than 1 day per week, and occasionally travel to other Texas A&M clinical research sites in Dallas, the coastal bend and Rio Grande Valley. Please Note: Willingness and ability to work hybrid, occasionally work nights/weekends, and travel in-state up to 20% of the time. Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, nursing, public health, pharmacy, or other health related disciplines Six years of experience as a clinical research associate Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills in English Must be able to work in a collaborative team environment Must be literate in the English language and able to comprehend and follow both written and verbal instructions Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with other Ability to perform all task and job responsibilities safely without injury to self and others in compliance with Texas A&M System and HSC guidelines Preferred Education and Experience: Master’s degree in life sciences, nursing, public health, pharmacy, or other health related disciplines Experience in oncology, primary care, psychiatry, or cardiopulmonary clinical trials; with a common clinical trial enterprise system, such as, Oncore; in site monitoring; and in clinical research, population health, or genomics. Community health worker background preferred. Experience in healthcare, academic, biobanking or research environment. Competence in data cleaning techniques, Open Specimen (or other biobanking platforms), Research Electronic Data Capture software (REDCap), e-clinical works, and Microsoft Office. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Applicant should have experience with electronic medical record or electronic data capture systems, and in basic vendor relations, advanced client relations, proposal writing, clinical research protocols, institutional review boards, and demonstrated business acumen, persuasive communication, adaptability, team leadership, and quality assurance methodologies Bilingual (Spanish) Preferred Licenses and Certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP)/Certified Project Master (or similar) Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA) Certified Clinical Research Associate (CCRA), and/or Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) Responsibilities: Clinical Research Help develop protocol development and translational roadmaps for commercially oriented faculty led projects Liaison with compliance and privacy officers Ensure research is conducted in compliance with IRB approved protocols Work with clinical staff and providers in consenting patients for research projects Work as a patient liaison and advocate in longitudinal studies, including follow-up Data Curation Support faculty and staff in data collection, quality control and curation Occasionally abstract or transcribe electronic medical record (EMR) data for research data warehouse under supervision of study investigators Administrative Performs other duties as assigned, including travel, ordering, coordinating meetings for clinical trial committees and research project teams Instructions to Applicants: Applications received by Texas A&M University must either have all job application data entered or a resume attached.
