Who we are Texas A&M University’s Enterprise Information Systems (EIS) department (http://eis.tamu.edu/) provides reliable and cost-effective, mission-critical, enterprise-wide information to the Texas A&M University’s main campus (including School of Law, Health Science Center, and other locations across Texas) and its branch campuses in Galveston and Qatar to support the academic, administrative, research and recruiting missions of Texas A&M University. EIS systems allow students to apply, enroll, pay and graduate, then transition from Texas A&M University to careers. The EIS team manages the information in the Compass system, a software product called Banner, which assists academic services to ensure effective and efficient processes, accurate and timely reporting, and quality services for students, faculty and staff. Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience One year of related experience in IT Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications Knowledge of troubleshooting, client relations, formulating and contributing ideas Ability to work in a collaborative team environment Strong interpersonal skills Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others Ability to communicate effectively Preferred Experience: Some experience in software development Some experience working with Broadcom Automation (UC4, AppWorx, Automic) or other scheduling applications Some experience working with PL/SQL Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills Proficiency in PL/SQL Knowledge of Ellucian Banner software Knowledge of Broadcom Automation software (UC4/AppWorx/Automic) Knowledge of Financial Aid business practices Excellent customer service skills Responsibilities: IT & Programming - Assists with basic application design, development and testing. Provides technical assistance. Recommends technical and procedural design for new or revised applications including flow charts, system specifications, programming guidelines, and code review. Assists with reviewing, modifying and/or writing program code as needed. Applies quality standards and ensures all work is accurate and in compliance with departmental or project quality standards. General Duties - Assists other employees in resolving technical problems. Confers with other personnel in resolving problems involving procedural and technical matters. Provides technical support for the customer. Assists with researching problems and recommending solutions. Attends meetings with University customers and technical staff. Provides on-call support on nights and weekends as needed. Problem Resolution and Analysis - Assists with problem management procedures. Assists with team documentation and problem tracking. Resolve problems by reviewing and analyzing software documentation and production outputs to identify causes, solutions, and/or make appropriate referrals. Customer Support - Answers routine questions and provides technical assistance and/or training to application users. Documentation - Assists with writing documentation of system procedures and guidelines for application users, as well as programs and program modifications. Professional Development -Participates in training and professional development sessions. Performs other duties as assigned.
