Job Summary

We are searching for a Senior Application Functional Lead -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will provide lead technical services to analyze, design, and deliver clinical/business solutions while functioning as a subject matter expert to activities related to answering technical consulting questions. Serves as a subject matter expert associated with content, processes, and procedures of enterprise applications.

Responsibilities

  • Translates business needs into detailed requirement specifications, coordinates new development, and makes sure it is consistent and well-integrated with existing information frameworks and data structures 
  • Leads and engages in business analysis, data analysis, and design analysis collaborating with business application analysts and application architects 
  • Analyzes current business practices, user needs, and workflow processes, contributes details to the plan and translates customer's business problem, need, or opportunity, and designs a virtualized solution that completely and correctly addresses the business problem, needs, or opportunity 
  • Facilitates enterprise systems design and architecture, manage requirement traceability information, and tracking of requirements through the stages of implementation 
  • Leads the architectural design, development, deployment, and technical quality of large enterprise solutions that span multiple technologies and discipline 
  • Leads complex technical data warehouse discussions on modeling, integration, and overall technology solutions and design 
  • Provides leadership with measures on the effectiveness of data governance and data quality 
  • Leads complex technical data architecture discussions on modeling, integration, and overall technology solutions and design. Prepares technical architectural and implementation design documents 
  • Maintains systems and releases, assists with controlling and reviewing third-party vendor application releases to production 
  • Updates and maintains support documentation and works closely with server and database system administrators in troubleshooting and coordinating system outages 
  • Identifies alternative ways to utilize the application and technologies for projects that are impacted by performance and/or business issues. 
  • Participates in departmental activities, facilitates activities with management, coaches on design principles across multiple problems/solutions under different scenarios, represents IS in discussions with other groups to develop application and data integration solutions 

Qualifications

Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children’s, unless approved for a medical or religious exemption.

  • H.S. Diploma or GED 
  • 10 years’ experience in application design and implementation
