General Description
Plans, coordinates, and conducts complex atmospheric sciences studies in support of the State Implementation Plan (SIP) for the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). Conducts complex analysis using chemical, statistical, computer, and other functions in the collection and analysis of data to assess the relationship between emissions, meteorology, and pollutant concentrations. Adapts new data analysis techniques and provides leadership in the analysis of data. Prepares complex reports and complex presentations for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the public and scientific community regarding air quality research. Presents findings to the public, scientific community, and management. Conducts peer review of technical reports, presentations, and documents. Serves as an advisor and consultant to staff and contractors in technical matters and program functions. Initiates scientific projects to be contracted out and oversees project development to completion. Interacts with local, state, and federal agencies, the regulated community, and the general public.
Minimum Qualifications
Four years of full-time experience in data analysis, data research, data compilation; and/or reporting work.
OR
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in engineering, basic science, computer science, environmental science, mathematics, statistics or a related field; plus two years of the required experience.
OR
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; plus three years of the required experience.

Condition of Employment:
TCEQ will verify Selective Service registration for males born on or after January 1, 1960. If exempt from Selective Service registration selected candidate must provide proof of exemption on first day of employment.
