JOB SUMMARY: The Clinical Quality Analyst will support the organization’s quality initiatives through quality assurance of documentation collected in TOSA’s electronic donor management system. This position audits donor case charts and organ referral documentation for accuracy and completeness based on regulatory standards and TOSA protocols. The CQA supports the Quality Services department to ensure compliance and promote accuracy of referral information. This position may be required, on occasion, to travel by company or personal automobile or commercial aircraft to accomplish the job responsibilities. The incumbent will have access to confidential material and needs to use discretion with this information and strictly adhere to the Texas Organ Sharing Alliance confidentiality policy.
WORK SCHEDULE: The Clinical Quality Analyst (CQA) position is a full-time position. Normal office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The employee may occasionally have to work evenings or weekends, as needed.
KEY FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
- Performs timely quality assurance reviews of referral data and organ donor information and documentation as required.
- Assist Quality Services in the submission and validation of externally mandated data and information
- Assists in organizational CQI initiatives and/or special projects as they emerge.
- Participates in Quality systems meetings, post donor meetings and clinical forums as appropriate
- Internal audits to ensure accuracy and compliance with TOSA’s policies and procedures, as well as CMS and FDA regulations, UNOS policies, AOPO standards.
- Ensures adherence to clinical policies.
- Conducts systematic review of referral data and donor records.
- Identifies inaccurate or incomplete documentation and variances in protocols.
- Follows up with the appropriate clinical coordinators for corrections and data adjustments.
- Exercises discretion and independent judgement when making decisions based on compliance and regulatory criteria.
- Accountable to the TOSA's confidentiality policy of both patient information and employee performance.
- Responsible for reporting and tracking non-conformances via TOSA's variance tracking system.
- Responsible for maintaining audit records in TOSA's quality management system.
- Prepares accurate and timely reports of audit finding.
- Obtains clinical laboratory results and reports them to transplant centers.
- Assists in the submission and validation of externally mandated data and information.
- Provides support to the Sr. Director of Quality Services and Manager of Clinical Quality as appropriate.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:
- Knowledge of medical terminology, prefer a candidate with nursing experience or clinical background; prefer a Bachelor’s degree
- Demonstrates knowledge and applies skills pertaining to computer technology, data management, documentation, and flow of information in the health care and, particularly, the organ donation and allocation.
- Must have knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, terminology and procedures in healthcare and quality.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with organizational staff.
