JOB SUMMARY:
Direct and oversee major functional areas within Fabrication or Assembly. Coordinates operational activities with other functional areas. Assures control of labor costs and continuity of production according to schedules.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
I. Directs and counsels Value Stream Leaders in their planning, organizing and controlling of production output, costs and quality. Coordinates production activities with Value Stream Leaders in the major functional areas of responsibility to meet production schedules and delivery dates in the most efficient and effective manner.
II. Oversees Industrial/Manufacturing Engineers that make recommendations regarding workplace layouts, production methods, and production efficiencies by auditing operations to improve production flow and reduce costs
III. Coordinates with supervision on scheduling and priority of operations to be conducted on second and third shifts.
IV. Recommends training and employee development needs to Human Resources. Motivates employees to improve their knowledge and performance through study and educational participation.
V. Checks and reports on status of production and takes action to eliminate delays and parts shortages.
VI. Confers with Quality Control on the disposition of questionable inspections “squawks” and the control of recurring quality defects.
VII. Plans and decides on the priority of daily maintenance work and critical equipment servicing schedules, coordinating and adjusting production to minimize downtime.
VIII. Confers with Project Engineers, Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering, Production Control and Marketing personnel on matters related to implementation of changes in engineering drawings, tooling, equipment, methods and aircraft delivery schedules.
IX. Oversees the Value Stream Leaders enforcement of safety rules and housekeeping practices. Reviews and approves the submission of accident investigation reports.
X. Conducts regularly scheduled meetings with subordinate supervision to provide information and priority on parts and tool shortages, revisions in production schedules and matters of specific interest to supervisory personnel.
XI. Consolidates, analyzes and recommends periodic budget projection, and annual and long-term capital expenditure recommendations.
XII. Monitors, controls and expedites daily production operations through continuing efficiency, aircraft production and budget reports.
XIII. Participates and assists in the establishment and revision of production standards. Recommends changes in routing specification and processing methods to improve upon production efficiency.
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- 5 years’ experience required
- Managerial experience is preferred
- Excellent communications skills
- Problem solving and organization skills
- Ability to work within team environments
- Experience in production or a manufacturing role is preferred
