This position pays $24- $47 hourly with great benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401k matching)
The technical writer's responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Ensure the flow down of select contractual requirements mandated by DOE O 422.1, Conduct of Operations; DOE O 243.1 B, Records Management; DOE O 414.1C, Quality Assurance and other upper tier drivers are flowed down via company-wide processes and procedures.
- Ensure that processes described in Performance Document Process (PROC-OS-1107) and Forms Management (PROC-OS-1108) are implemented and adhered to.
- Create and manage templates, process forms, and other tools. Understand and use advanced techniques in Adobe and MS Office software suite to produce complex documents. May work directly with subject matter experts to write procedures.
- Work with document preparers, managers, writers, and workers to ensure appropriate requirements Communicate and interact with team members as a team member.
- Assists other technical editing staff, as required. Review work of other technical editing staff members, document development and process flow, requirements, priorities, and deadlines.
- Responsible for electronic file management to include access and configuration control.
- Maintain and update internal and external (Exhibit L) procedures and forms websites.
- Proofread performance documents (i.e., directives, policies, charters, process/program descriptions, procedures, and forms) to ensure proper use of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and referenced documents.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's Degree or and 2 years of relevant experience or 10 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree required.
- A Bachelor's Degree or and 5 years of relevant experience or 3 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree is preferred.
- Technical writing and editing skills normally acquired through specialized education/training in English, technical communications, or journalism.
- Thorough knowledge of grammatical rules, spelling, composition, and style.
- Ability to work to a style guide.
- Proficiency with standard document formatting/editing/production software, including electronic comment incorporation, importing graphic files, formatting tables, and developing and applying templates.
- Knowledge of standard editing/proofreading marks.
- Basic vocabulary of the relevant technical disciplines.
- Ability to function on own and work as part of a team.
- Support the LEAN Program by identifying and working to eliminate waste from work processes.
- Continually demonstrates sustained commitment to "Zero Accidents" policy and support for company safety program through personal safe behavior/work practices, following all safety rules and procedures and reporting unsafe work practices/situations.
- Advanced techniques in Adobe and MS Office software suite.
