Service Center is located in Washington, PA
We are hiring individuals to work as Full-Time City Drivers. This position involves the driving of a tractor-trailer and the daily pickup and delivery of freight from numerous commercial and residential customers on a given route.
City Drivers must pass a DOT physical and successfully pass a road test. Qualified applicants must have a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License with Haz-Mat, Twin Trailer, and Tanker endorsements, issued by this state. Pick-Up & Delivery Drivers are expected to comply with our appearance policy.
Applicants must be at least 21 years of age; and must be able to read, write and speak the English language. Applicants must meet the Department of Transportation (DOT) and Company mental and physical requirements; and must be physically and mentally able to safely perform the essential job functions without obvious risk of injury to the employee or co-workers.
The essential functions of this job require that you must be able to: sit and ride for extended periods of time in a truck tractor; stand for extended periods of time on concrete floors and other level and non-level surfaces; and drive, operate a tractor, and move in and out of a tractor cab, for as many as 10 consecutive hours, in all types of weather, while safely transporting hazardous or non-hazardous materials. You must also be able to: utilize all tractor equipment and operate vehicle in a forward and backward motion, maneuver curves, and pull and back into tight spaces, in an efficient and safe manner; safely walk, bend, reach, push, pull, stoop, squat, kneel and climb as necessary to perform vehicle inspections required under section 396.13 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, or in accordance with Company procedures, or as circumstances dictate; safely walk, bend, reach, push, pull, stoop, squat, kneel, as well as grasp and lift as high as above the head; physically load and unload freight and other heavy objects frequently; and handle heavy equipment as necessary to ensure efficient operation and safety during both the hooking and dropping processes of tractor/trailer combinations.
You must be able to safely walk, bend, reach, push, pull, stoop, kneel, and squat, as well as climb and balance on varying, and sometimes slippery, surface levels, and climb upon trailer when necessary (for instance, to ensure closure of dome lids following loading or unloading). You must be able to familiarize yourself with, understand, and be able to physically and mentally comply with, the proper and safe methods of loading and unloading for the various cargoes to be transported, and must be able to support 100 lbs., other than personal body weight; and work at a rapid pace and under time pressure, as necessary, in order to complete loading and unloading on time, indoors or outdoors in inclement weather, and otherwise perform assigned duties in an adequate and timely fashion.
