The Family Partnership was founded in 1878 as the Minneapolis Humane Society to protect and serve children that were being abused or exploited. Wages and Benefits

A Typical Day in the Life…

A typical day as The Family Partnership’s Infant Lead Teacher provides an opportunity to promote early childhood learning in the areas of social/emotional, motor, cognitive, and creative development. The Four Directions Family Center is a full-day therapeutic education and care program for children 6 weeks to 11 years of age. The center is committed to the revitalization of the Dakota and Ojibwe languages. We work with our partner Wicoie Nandagikendan to provide language immersion and culturally responsive early childhood education. Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Providing a safe, stimulating, healthy, and nurturing environment to ensure all children have a positive experience.
  • Teaching age-appropriate activities for both group and self-select learning.
  • Developing and implementing age and skill appropriate weekly lesson plans and learning opportunities.
  • Implementing Teaching Strategies curriculum in the classroom.
  • Completing child assessment and individual goal setting 3 times/year; including parents and therapist in process.
  • Supervising and participating in children’s activities and field trips.
  • Ensuring constant supervision of the children.
  • Maintaining accurate participant/program records and daily notes on each child as required.
  • Participating in parent-teacher conferences and making referrals based on the needs of the child when necessary.
  • Cleaning and disinfecting toys and tables and conducting daily safety inspection of play areas, classroom, playground, etc.

 

Who You Are

  • You hold a current Child Development Associate (CDA) Certification or have equivalent Child Development College credits (24).
  • You have at least six months of experience working in a childcare setting.
  • You have a demonstrated knowledge of child development from six weeks to eleven years of age.
  • You have a demonstrated knowledge of health and safety precautions, sanitation/cleaning techniques, and emergency response.
  • You are skilled in managing and guiding children’s behavior with the ability to anticipate needs.
  • You are a critical thinker with the ability to effectively problem solve.
  • You have the ability to work and communicate effectively with a diverse population including parents, children, and other professionals.
  • You have the ability to assist with outdoor activities, lift up to 50 pounds, and can meet the high level of physical movement needed to care for young children.
  • You have a working knowledge of Microsoft office programs and other general office equipment.
