Clinics within the West region that applicants will need to be comfortable commuting to and working at based on business needs:

Seminole, Tyrone, Downtown at Water Street, 4th Strt. (St. Petersburg), and South Tampa

The position will remain open until all vacancies are successfully filled.


What You'll Do:

Join our talented and compassionate team of Certified Medical Assistants who provide patient care under the direct supervision of our providers.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs medical assistant procedures assists the providers with patients, including preparing patients and the examination rooms, taking initial medical history for the chart, taking vital signs, and explaining the process to the patients.
  • Undertake front office and clerical duties such as assisting patients with paperwork, verifying patient demographics and insurance benefits, and performing billing and bookkeeping functions.
  • Assists provider in all special procedures, including minor surgery, as required.
  • Outlines care instructions to patients as instructed by provider.
  • Assists with any procedures that have been taught through formal training or by provider.
  • Updates medical records in accordance with procedures and forms.
  • Follows HIPAA guidelines for patient confidentiality and follows principles of medical ethics for medical assistant.
  • Keeps rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, washes and dries instruments used, and prepares sterilization as required.
  • Clean wounds, draws labs, electrocardiograms, and applies dressings and splints as directed by provider.
  • Assists patients any time an urgent need is apparent or as directed by supervisory staff.
  • Assists in lab procedures under the supervision of provider or which training has been given.
  • Other duties may consist of notifying patients of lab results, giving vaccines, immunizations and medications prescribed by the doctor; lab work consisting of throat cultures, hematocrits, and urinalysis.
  • Responsible for proper handling and storage of all medications stored in the office.
  • Complete required trainings as assigned by the organization.
Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task
  • Follows established office routines and policies
  • Understanding of ethics of confidentiality/HIPAA
  • Displays a courteous and friendly attitude to patients and team members
  • Cross train between front office and mid office responsibilities as needed to ensure a synced clinic
  • Ability to help assist with front office duties as needed/requested
  • Performs other admin related duties as assigned

Education and Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • BLS certification
  • Hold a current Certified Medical Assistant certification
  • Experience with EPIC strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology

Work Environment & Travel:

  • This job operates in a professional medical environment
  • May require traveling to clinic locations within or outside of preferred region
  • May require traveling to clinic locations outside preferred region during training
  • Consistent use of technology throughout shift to complete assigned work tasks
  • Frequent use of working on a computer to complete assigned work tasks

Work Schedule:

  • Work Schedule: Sunday - Saturday 7:45am-8pm, 40 hours a week, full time
  • Work Schedule: Alternating weekends
  • May require overtime depending upon patient volume and clinic needs
  • May require travel to another clinic within region or outside of region upon managements request/clinic needs
