What are the responsibilities and job description for the Primavera Project Specialist position at Thales Group?
Job Summary:
Provide project scheduling and resource planning support as an experienced Primavera tool user. Liaison with Program Management (Customer Delivery & Product Delivery), Program Management Office (PMO – Irvine & Melbourne), Finance, Engineering, Procurement and Operations to develop and maintain project schedules, resources and financials (EAC, ETC, etc.). The objective is to establish and maintain project data in Primavera, serve as a mentor/coach to other Primavera users and identify when Primavera updates are needed by producing reports/KPIs that identify the status of projects in Primavera through the use of PMBI, SAP, PowerBI, etc. This role may involve working with other Thales entities globally, i.e., Thales Global Services, NORAM, etc. Other duties include project monitoring and control support that align with the goals and objectives of projects.
Key Responsibility:
- Analyze and manage Primavera project data (performance/progress, resources and financials).
- Understand and use of Project Scheduling best practices.
- Detailed oriented and experienced in developing schedules, i.e., critical paths, resource loaded, project baselines and logic driven.
- Provide continual support to PMO & Program Management, e.g., schedule performance, financial analysis/variances, risks, opportunities, critical path impacts and workload conflicts.
- Proactively obtain input from all project team members to support ongoing analysis and forecasting relative to impacts on completion dates, float erosion, and updates to project ETC.
- Assist with Primavera tool administration, troubleshooting and training.
- Participate in project meetings (IPT, IPR, CPR, etc.) including audit/peer reviews.
- Assist in the preparation for project reviews by updating Project Dashboards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain PMO/Program Management processes, tools, templates, forms, checklists, metrics, etc.
- Help manage project relevant documentation, history and organizational knowledge.
- Help prepare for and support department audits
- Encourage/enforce the use of processes/practices
- Gain a general understanding of the Chorus 5.2 Manage Project process.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering or related field. Plus 8 years of work related experience.
- Proficient in using Primavera.
- 5 years’ experience with SAP or comparable tool
- 5 years’ working within Program Management and/or Finance. Combination of the two backgrounds is acceptable
- PMP certification a plus.
- Proficient in operating common Microsoft applications, i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
Preferred Qualifications
Able to coach, inspire and motivate teams to efficiently use Primavera and PMBI.
- Able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and project teams.
- Able to solve practical problems and deal with multiple variables.
- Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- Familiarity with software development scheduling and Agile software development practices is desirable.
- Able to work autonomously with minimal direction or supervision.
- Able to tackle problems, establish facts, work with a team to implement effective solutions and follow-up.
- Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Driven to complete tasks with schedule challenges in a fast-paced Customer-oriented environment where decision-making and actions are necessary
