Thalle Construction Co., Inc. (“Thalle”) is currently seeking a Surveyor. The Surveyor will report to the Project Superintendent, work closely with and support the operations team, and interact with a variety of staff at all levels. The position is located in our Leonard, Texas, office. The surveyor will remain flexible, resourceful, proactive, and efficient while maintaining a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.

The Surveyor will be responsible for the utilization of project controls and staking using a total station, GPS, and computer software in project assignments. In addition, this position will be responsible for all aspects of project control including, but not limited to, field data collection, topographical surveys, and construction stakeout.

Thalle is currently seeking an experienced Surveyor to perform a variety of tasks associated with land surveying. The Surveyor will be responsible for the utilization of project controls and staking using a total station, GPS, and computer software in project assignments. In addition, this position will be responsible for all aspects of project control including, but not limited to, field data collection, topographical surveys, and construction stakeout.
- Provide surveying services, which include construction survey and layout on bridges, highways, foundations, and other related heavy civil projects.
- Assists with survey computations and data collection, including construction layout calculations, grade sheet computation, topographical/volume analysis, and project data conversion/transformation.
- Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, reports, and as-built surveys.
- Calculate heights, depths, relative positions, property lines, and other characteristics of terrain.
- Oversee survey aspects of civil engineering projects and/or directing preparation of all types of survey plans.
- Conducting plan research and review.
- Perform fieldwork associated with land surveying.
- Conduct business with 100% integrity and professionalism.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience with land surveying, surveying technology, or other related science.
- Experience must show current proficiency operating a robotic tool station, GPS, and level.
- AutoCAD experience not required but viewed favorably.
- Ability to build TIN/BIM maps preferred.
- Proficiency in DOT standards, code lists, and all survey requirements.
- Knowledge of geological description principles and methods.
- Knowledge of applicable laws, legal codes, and government regulation.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Must be able to work independently.
- Ability to travel will be required.
- Valid Driver’s License required, and candidate must pass be able to pass a Motor Vehicle Report background check.
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
- Must be able to work outdoors on various terrain in a wide range of weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
- Must be able to pass a Pre-Employment drug screen.
