The Phased Array Antenna Engineer in the Antenna Systems Department (ASD) within the Communications Technologies and Engineering Division will support the definition and development of advanced ground, space, and airborne phased array antenna systems relevant to our Government, Civil, and Commercial customers. The Phased Array Antenna Engineer will work directly with corporate customers to ensure robust and resilient systems. ASD uses 3D electromagnetic simulation software like HFSS, CST Microwave Studio and GRASP to design and analyze antennas and other components. ASD has multiple antenna test capabilities to help solve our customers’ most challenging antenna aperture problems for space vehicles, ground systems and user equipment. Our group has supported the Aerospace CubeSat program since the beginning and we work hand in hand with iLab and xLab on exciting CubeSat missions. Come join us to help define the next antenna architectures for space. **This position can be filled as an Aerospace Member of Technical Staff or Senior Member of Technical Staff based on experience** What You’ll Be Doing Support the development of ground, air, and space based direct radiating arrays, array fed reflector antennas, wide-band arrays, and multibeam arrays. Participate in studies designed to solve new technical problems and provide new technical solutions for phased array antenna systems. Perform antenna development and measurements, including construction of antenna mockups and range configuration. Operate network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and various other RF test and measurement equipment. What You Need to be Successful Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, related engineering or physics discipline Typically 2 years experience working within the industry (time spent obtaining advanced degrees counts toward this) Strong written and oral communication skills, and effective interpersonal skills to coordinate efforts and work with other internal and external organizations Must possess strong organizational, time management and project management skill Demonstrated flexibility and ability to adapt to changing organizational need Antenna theory & upper-division electromagnetics (fields and waves, microwave transmission lines, S-parameters, and Smith charts) Experience with MATLAB, Python or similar computer language used for numerical computing and automating test equipment Experience with an electromagnetic software tool such as Ansys HFSS, TICRA GRASP, CST Studio Suite, or FEKO Experience with microwave test equipment such as a network analyzer or spectrum analyzer This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
