Maintenance Worker (Ft. Pierce and St. Lucie County)

SUMMARY:

The Head Start/Early Head Start Maintenance Worker reports to the Child Development Services Manager and performs as caretaker of buildings, facilities, and grounds of the Agricultural and Labor Program, Inc. as assigned. Assists with safety inspections to ensure adequate space, light, ventilation, heat and other physical arrangements that are consistent with health and safety needs of the children.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Include the following:

  • Cleans all assigned areas to insure proper sanitary conditions.
  • Responsible for keeping grounds free of litter, debris, and hazardous conditions.
  • Utilizes the Daily Maintenance Checklist in the assignment of all duties performed.
  • Maintains all maintenance storage areas in an orderly manner.
  • Serves as a trouble shooter in identifying problem areas and performs preventative maintenance duties.
  • Assists in the handling of heavy items.
  • Makes minor repairs of building facilities and program equipment.
  • Performs thorough stripping and waxing of floors on a regular basis.
  • Assembles new classroom toys and equipment.
  • Maintains inventory records of tools and equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attends all meetings that are required
  • Attends pre-services, in-service trainings, workshops and seminars in the specific of facility related and as required based on OSHA regulations.
  • Reports suspected child abuse and neglect situations.
  • Serves as a good adult model for children.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
