The Arc Greater Hudson Valley, NY is seeking a full-time Employment Specialist to join our team! #Discovertherewards

A Employment Specialist assists individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities succeed in obtaining employment and provides assistance/supervision to the people we support at various work sites. A wide variety of tasks with different experiences each day. one week paid orientation followed by a week of shadowing a supervisor. 4 days - 6 hours each day of online courses specifically related to your job duties.

The Arc Greater Hudson Valley, NY is a not-for-profit agency created in January 2021 dedicated to providing supports to over 2,000 people with disabilities and their families in Sullivan, Orange, and Dutchess Counties. Formerly known as The Arc Sullivan-Orange Counties and The Arc of Dutchess, The Arc Greater Hudson Valley provides innovative, high-quality services including Residential Services, Clinical Services, Day Services, Family Support Services, Guardianship Services, Children's Education Services, Employment Services, Recreation, Respite and more.

A chapter of The Arc New York, our main offices are located at 162 East Broadway in Monticello, NY. Our Dutchess County offices, including the office for The Arc of Dutchess Foundation, are located at 84 Patrick Lane, Suite 130 Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.

Our dedicated team is still interviewing, hiring and conducting orientation, despite COVID-19. We are following all safety guidelines, providing Personal Protective Equipment to all staff, and sanitizing all locations thoroughly. We are currently conducting phone and/or virtual interviews.

Location: Orange County, NY

Schedule: Hours vary, must be flexible with availability

Employment specialist Responsibilities:

• Provide support, training and supervision to people with Intellectual/developmental disabilities employed in community-based jobs as well as other employment services that are community based.
• Transport people supported as needed
• Evaluate, train and supervise people supported for appropriate and timely performance of assigned tasks at work site
• Make sound, independent decisions to resolve crisis situations and access community resources as necessary to insure safety, welfare and physical/emotional well-being of the people supported.

Employment Specialist Qualifications:

• All positions require a valid, clean NYS driver’s license with a minimum of one year driving experience with a Class D license.
