Finance Specialist

The Arc of Essex County is a non-profit organization that provides services and programs for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. Our corporate office is located in Livingston, NJ and we have programs throughout Essex County.

Job Summary:

The Finance Specialist is responsible for processing transactions for Representative Payee Accounting, Consumer Finance and Housing, and Billing.

This position reports to the Assistant Director of Consumer Finance and Housing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist with preparation of individual budgets
• Assist with preparation of housing renewals
• Prepare internal reports for distribution
• Responsible for monthly reconciliation and journal entries for housing subsidies, care contributions, rents etc.
• Responsible for Representative Payee accounting using National Datacare System
• Responsible for timely processing all payments outlined in the individual’s budget
• Record and monitor all transactions, changes, supporting schedules, and month end balances
• Assist Controller with A/R tasks
• Prepare weekly Medicaid billing, reconciliation and documentation
• Responsible for Stepping Stones School billing
• Review PEX (expense reports) for completeness for documentation and approval
• Develop an understanding of Social Security requirements and Medicaid rules and regulations pertaining to representative payee and entitlements to assist in daily issues
• Special projects as directed

Education / Work Experience / Skills:

• Thorough working knowledge of Excel, and other accounting software for report creation and analysis required
• Three to five years of business office experience preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance a plus
