Purpose
Provides nursing services in accordance with applicable regulations, policies and guidelines to foster the highest degree of quality care for all residents.
Arcadia Retirement Residence Location:
Health Care Center Full Time (40 hrs. per week) Shifts available are 4pm to 12midnight.
Assisted Living Full Time (40 hrs. per week) flexibility to work from 6am to 2pm & 2pm to 10pm shifts.
Essential Functions
1. Participates in admissions, discharges, and evaluation materials/processes for all residents to ensure appropriate assessment and documentation are complete, timely and meets state and federal requirements.
2. Conducts nursing assessments, administers professional nursing services (i.e. IV’s, oxygen therapy, catheterization, tube feedings, suctioning, dressing changes, etc.), monitors nursing care and treatment administered to all residents.
3. Oversees medication administration, ensuring adequate ordering, receiving, documentation, safe storage and disposal of physician-prescribed medication for residents. Conducts regular review of medication documentation.
4. Works in conjunction with the interdisciplinary team to ensure resident assessments are completed in accordance with Federal and State regulations.
5. Responds to the Emergency Call alarms from apartments or other areas in facilities. Assesses residents’ physical and mental conditions, performs first aid and takes other appropriate action as indicated.
6. Communicates effectively with Health Care Management staff, physicians, and other healthcare providers regarding orders, nursing services, and changes in residents’ conditions.
7. Promptly reports residents’ or their families’ concerns or complaints to Health Care management staff. Communicates effectively and courteously with residents, families, and visitors.
8. Monitors the nursing care of Boarder Room residents.
9. Participates in orientation and training of new employees and assists in finding replacements for nurses who call in sick.
10. Investigates probable causes of incidents, writes incident reports, and implements corrective actions as needed.
11. Participates and assists during emergency drills and situations such as fire, fire alarms, hurricanes, and other possible emergencies as outlined in the Disaster Response Playbook.
12. Participates in Quality Assurance programs.
13. Ensures compliance with all of the organization’s policies and procedures, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.
14. Ensures that all resident rights and responsibilities are protected and enforced; establishes and maintains a close liaison with residents and families.
15. Performs annual employee health screening, PPD skin testing and administers hepatitis immunization and annual flu injections in accordance with our policies and procedures.
16. Assesses employee injuries or emergencies, performs first aid and takes other appropriate action as indicated.
17. Maintains sufficient supplies and monitors proper operation of medical devices and equipment.
18. Other duties as assigned by ACS and its family of companies.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervises employees in the Health Care Center. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; performance management; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university and a minimum of 2-3 years’ experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations
Current State of Hawaii R.N. license and First Aid/CPR certification.

Computer Skills

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; push and pull. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
