Overview

The Assembly Supervisor reports directly to the Director of Assembly Operations. Position will have direct supervision of 4-5 Area Crew Chiefs within a defined scope that could be defined by Customer, type of Assemblies being produced or a combination of both. This is an Salary position. This is a position that at times will require the candidate to work alongside his Crew Chiefs and Team Members to troubleshoot, cross train, implement or evaluate processes or at times when schedule or customer requests warrant such activity. Ideal Candidate should expect to spend approximately 2/3 of their time directly involved with the teams they oversee. The ideal Candidate should be the current standard bearer in regards to Attendance, Quality of Work, and Performance to Standard, Problem Solving, Communications Skills and ability to Coach.

Responsibilities

  • Immediate point of contact for the Crew Chiefs they supervise.
  • Monitors Performance to Standard Monitors throughout shift and engages employees regarding any overages and/or mis-clockings in an effort mitigate cost overruns or waste. .
  • Engages Team Members for feedback on any Continuous Improvement suggestions in regards to Quality, Cost and/or Cost Avoidances.
  • Promotes and encourages a culture of Continuous Improvement through her or his actions and responses to suggestions/feedback from not only the team but from the cross functional teams as well as Senior Leadership
  • Works with team members on Immediate Corrective actions regarding Quality Escapements and or high impact Scrap and Rework.
  • Reviews daily downtime usage and makes adjustments as necessary to ensure it is not being used to offset Performance to Standard.
  • Coaches Area Crew Chiefs on populating and communicating the Daily ANDON Boards. .
  • Reviews data prior to ANDON walks to assist area Crew Chiefs if necessary.
  • Monitors all daily 6S Shop Clean Ups at End of Shift and assures they are being performed.
  • Works with Crew Chiefs and Distributors to ensure supplies are being ordered when needed.
  • Monitors PTO approvals
  • With assistance from Area Crew Chiefs completes and administers Performance Reviews for all Team Members.
  • Manages Overtime Requirements that are being administered by Area Crew Chiefs and communicates weekly planned hours.
  • Coordinates all potential cross training that needs to be performed.
  • Ensures team members are clocking to work orders
  • Works with Program Management team on Customer Inquiries, Part Shortages and Constraints.
  • Promotes a culture of transparency and problem solving within their team.
  • Experience working in high volume Aerospace Production.
  • Lead team in developing solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
  • Leads a team of Area Crew Chiefs and their team members in the fabrication and assembly of complex aero structures, to meet production requirements and customer acceptance.
  • Interfaces with engineering, management, suppliers, and customers to meet product requirements and customer acceptance.
  • Candidate along with other Assembly Supervisor(s) will work rotating weekend coverage schedule unless it is deemed necessary from Assembly Director the need for them to be on site along with other Assembly Supervisor(s).

Qualifications

Preferred Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or five or more years’ experience in an entry level Assembly Supervision role. 10 years assembly experience in total.
