What are the responsibilities and job description for the Receiving Inspector position at The Atlas Group?

Atlas Aerospace, 5705 North Broadway, Park City, KS has an immediate opportunity for a Receiving Inspector. In this role you will be responsible for ensuring that all raw materials meet customer and industry requirements including review of shelf-life requirements. This position is also responsible for ensuring procedures are followed, identifying quality related issues, generating reports, tracking of data, and the recommendation of process improvements in a fast-paced environment by performing the following duties.

  • Verifies incoming products to ensure products are per purchase orders and customer requirements.*
  • Verifies material issued to work orders is correct to work order requirements and customer requirements.*
  • Performs tests such as hardness and conductivity.*
  • Verifies incoming material is packaged properly and free of any damage.*
  • Ensures that instruments used for product acceptance are in calibration prior to use.*
  • Reports deviations from specifications and tolerances to supervisor including creation of NCR reports.*
  • Maintains inspection records and completes inspection reports.*
  • Responsible for the quality of their work and implementation of the policy and procedures applicable to processes they perform.*
  • Identifies any known or potential problems and recommends related solutions through the internal audit and/or corrective and/or preventative action processes.*

Preferred Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Specialized Training:

  • CMM operation and/or machine shop inspection
  • Blueprint reading and interpretation
  • GD&T experience
  • NCR creation
  • Each employee will be trained to perform Rockwell and Conductivity
  • Each employee will be trained on FAI’s
  • Each employee will be trained on PMC’s NCR system (AX)
  • Equipment:
  • Rockwell hardness and conductivity equipment
  • Height gages and precision measuring equipment

Knowledge, Skills and Other Abilities:

  • Experience in a precision sheet metal, machine job shop environment or equivalent
  • Must be familiar with the use of dimensional measuring equipment
  • Must be capable of performing First Article Inspection measurements, ascertaining the compliance of parts meeting the print requirements, detail oriented and quick to make decisions
  • Must understand quality as it relates to total customer service philosophy
  • Experienced in the use of MS Office, and MRP systems

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus, and ability to see color.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.


Shop environment, eye and hearing protection may be necessary while working on the shop floor


The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Salary : $38,000 - $48,100
