What are the responsibilities and job description for the Baker position at The Barn Cafe?
Do you LOVE to bake? Do you LOVE making desserts?? We are looking for someone to take over making our delicious desserts. ALL of our desserts are made FROM SCRATCH, so you MUST love baking from scratch and be good at it! We are looking to hire an experienced, motivated, self driven individual for this position. If you want even more hours, we could possibly work in having you come in early mornings and bake our muffins/scones/cinnamon rolls too. That is a possibility and not a requirement. Our cook currently covers pastries during the week.
BAKING: We are closed on Monday's, so you have the kitchen to yourself all day to bake desserts. You will make desserts Monday's (usually a 8-12 hr day) and 1 or 2 evenings per week (2-3 hrs) to "top off" the dessert case. If you cannot work an evening or 2 per week as needed to top off the desserts, then please don't apply! Our current baker works all day Monday's, and comes on Wednesday's or Thursday's late afternoon as needed(4 pm) to top off the desserts. This can take as little as 2 hours or as many as 5 hours, depending on how many desserts we sell. Occasionally we run out again and need to top off Friday evening, but that is not a common occurrence.

We are open to new ideas for desserts, and are looking for someone WITH EXPERIENCE and a natural knack for baking. Speed and efficiency are also important! The MOST important thing is QUALITY.
We are not in a hurry to hire for this position, as it is important we get the RIGHT candidate for the job. Must be a fun, caring, RELIABLE, responsible person with ample experience. Pay is dependent on experience. Tips are shared with kitchen staff, and average $5-6 per hour above and beyond your base hourly rate. $20 per hour is possible for the right candidate.
