The Bazaar, Inc. is your leader in buying and distributing brand-name wholesale merchandise closeouts. Since our family-owned company’s founding in 1960, big-box retailers and major multinational brands have trusted us to acquire their overstock and returns, providing excess or out-of-date inventory and canceled items to our clients at other businesses and customers at our four Chicagoland Bargains in a Box locations.
Bargains in a Box is a rapidly growing neighborhood discount liquidation warehouse & closeout store that sells brand-name products, clothes, and more at incredible discounts. Go on a treasure hunt to find great deals and steals. You’ll find electronics, food, cleaning supplies, baby goods, books, pet supplies, toys, clothing, and much more - all at unbelievable prices. The Job
We are seeking a Controller with a strong accounting background and leadership skills to help drive the business forward.
Responsibilities
- Ownership of the accounting function
- Supervise and manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
- Month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process lead
- Run P&L
- Financial statement preparation
- Oversight and participation of all processes, reporting, cash controls, A/R, A/P, reconciliations, and Payroll.
- All daily, weekly, and monthly reporting
- Reviewing and issuing forecasts and cash flow forecasts
- Oversight of a team of 3 employees
- Collaborate with senior leadership team frequently
- Oversee and maintain accounting and financial function, including monthly, quarterly and annual financial close processes.
- Prepare company budgets and long-term forecasts
- Consolidation of multiple entities
Requirements
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, v-lookups, databases, etc.)
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics or equivalent experience
- 6 years of experience (in retail is a plus)
- 2 years of prior supervisory experience overseeing AR/AP/Jr. Controller
- Strong communication skills including the ability to present well
- Ability to be onsite (hybrid potential over time)
- Experience running payroll is a plus

Salary : $83,300 - $105,000
