Essential Functions
Primary Responsibilities/Duties

Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, other deductions, and ACA year-end reporting.

Manage all aspects of the company’s in-house payroll including multi-state, exempt and non-exempt, salary and hourly, union, and non-union employees.

Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.

Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.

Payment and reconciliation of weekly/monthly/quarterly/yearly taxes as well as the end of year process of W-2 and other tax documents.

Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.

Executes certified payroll reporting.

Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.

Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Back up processing for weekly payroll of 500-900 employees. May regularly process payroll for sub-organizations and make pay adjustments/correct errors.

Communicate with the union on payroll-related wage verifications.

Maintains up-to-date and high-level knowledge of Paycom and ERP system.

Maintain confidentiality regarding all employee information in compliance with HIPAA Privacy and Security rules. Maintain compliance with applicable state and federal regulations, company policies/procedures, and accreditation standards.

Minimum Qualifications

Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.

Collaborative phone and email skills to reach shared goals

Computer skills: proficient in MS Office Suite, Excel and has worked with various payroll-related software and time reporting applications.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Accounting, a related field, or relevant work experience.

Formal post-high school education and/or certification in accounting or related field.

In-house payroll experience preferable with a major ERP system.

Detail-oriented, deadline/goal-driven.
-
Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced work environment.

Base knowledge of document editing software i.e., BlueBeam, Adobe Acrobat, Plan Grid, Plexxis.

Industry knowledge in Drywall, Steel Stud Metal Framing, Paint or other product/service that is core to Bergs offerings.
Sedentary Work
-
Sedentary work involves lifting no more than 10 - 15 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying.

Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.

Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally, and other sedentary criteria are met.
