What are the responsibilities and job description for the Industrial Sandblaster position at The Blast Shop?
TBS is looking for an additional Sandblaster to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience with sandblasting, as well as a strong attention to detail. They will be responsible for Sandblasting various metal surfaces to remove paint, rust, or other debris. The Sandblaster will also be responsible for ensuring that the surfaces are properly prepared for Powder Coating.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate sandblasting equipment to clean metal surfaces
- Read and interpret specifications to determine the best way to set up the sandblasting equipment
- Set up the sandblasting equipment, including the air compressor, hoses, and nozzles, according to the manufacturer’s instructions
- Move the nozzle of the sandblasting equipment over the surface to be cleaned, using a back-and-forth motion, overlapping strokes, or circular patterns
- Inspect the surface after sandblasting to ensure that it meets the specifications
- Clean the sandblasting equipment after use to prevent corrosion

Safety involves knowing how to handle chemicals, equipment, and other materials safely. It also involves knowing how to handle a situation if something goes wrong. They also communicate with customers to understand their needs and explain the process of sandblasting. Communication skills can also help them communicate safety information to their team members.
Physical fitness: Sandblasters often work outdoors and in hot conditions, so physical fitness is an important skill for this job.
Attention to detail: Sandblasters use attention to detail to ensure they apply the correct amount of pressure to the surface they’re working on. They also use this skill to make sure they don’t miss any spots.
Patience: Patience is another skill that can help you be a more effective Sandblaster. You may need to wait for the right conditions to apply the right amount of pressure to the surface you’re working on. You can also use patience when working with clients to help them understand the process of sandblasting and why you may need to stop and start the process.
