Job Description:

Role Summary

The Estimator Trainee works closely with our Estimator to learn how to effectively diagnose and prepare all estimates for repair in an accurate, thorough, and profitable manner according to insurance partner and company guidelines. Additionally, the Estimator Apprentice is responsible for communicating the value Gerber provides, resulting in a high closed sales ratio.

Key Attributes/Traits
  • Must possess excellent communication skills.
  • Must be computer literate. Knowledge of Microsoft products is preferred.
  • Must be able to use computer screen and keyboard for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to walk, stand, stoop, kneel or crouch in providing an accurate estimate of a vehicle's damage.
  • Must possess clear vision in providing an accurate estimate of a vehicle's damage.
  • Should possess good decision making ability and sound judgment.
  • Must be able to speak and understand the English language fluently.
  • Must be detail-oriented.
  • Should possess a good understanding of computerized estimating systems.


Key Education, Experience, and Skills

Required :
  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Prior customer service experience is a requirement.
  • Must currently possess or successfully complete 16 I-CAR units within the first 12 months of employment.

Preferred :
  • Photo-imaging software experience preferred.
  • 4-6 years related work experience is preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Records the vehicle arrival date and time in the CCC One RO production screen.
  • Greets customer at repair drop off and builds rapport.
  • Maps damage with customer (previous, current loss, WOW opportunities) using correct color paint markers.
  • Estimator begins repair mapping.
  • Estimator takes initial photographs.
  • Updates CCC One with arrival time, uploads photos, updates notes.
  • Puts windshield notation on vehicle (except completion date).
  • Notifies production that vehicle has arrived and puts it in production queue.
  • Verifies estimate during teardown.
  • Work with teardown technician to identify any necessary supplements.
  • Continues repair mapping.
  • Completes estimate using proper Repair Planning Template.
  • Takes any remaining necessary photographs and uploads to CCC One.
  • Finalizes estimate (reflecting any changes from final repair plan meeting).
  • Adds completion date to windshield notation.
  • Makes sure sublets on windshield notation are correct.
  • Prints out final parts list on the driver's side front window (or alternative glass), replacing any older parts list.
  • Uses Promise Date Calculator to set promise date.
  • Calls customer, reviews estimate, sets promise date.
  • Updates customer every Tuesday and Thursday.
  • Makes sure he/she follows his/her vehicles in production, knowing when they will be completed.
  • Participates in and contributes to the 1:00 Production Meeting, preparing to update customers.
  • Calls customers whose cars will be completed the next day.
  • Contacts customer to schedule or confirm pick up of their completed vehicle and documents notes within CCC One with appropriate CC or UCC comments.
  • Follow up with Technicians after vehicle tear down and make
  • necessary adjustments to estimate if needed.
  • Inspect all incoming vehicles for unrelated damage, odometer reading, etc.
  • Assist Insurance Adjusters to create a Damage Report
  • Handle add orders with insurance vendors: both DRP's and Non-DRP's. Estimator should assist.
  • Provide service to Insurance Claim Re-inspectors

  • 0800 Morning Huddle - Role: Participant
    • Inputs: Yesterday's performance, Today's plan, and barrier logs
    • Outputs: Clear prioritized assignments for each member of the production team. Clear communication to the estimators as to which vehicles will be completed
  • 1:00 PM Production Meeting - Role: Participant
    • Inputs: Scheduled Completions and Vehicle Delivery Plan
    • Outputs: Assignments to estimators, parts management, and production management that deliver to the plan
  • Weekly Planning Meeting - Role: Participant
    • Inputs: Budget/Projections, Demand Capacity Plan, Opportunities, Staffing Plan
    • Outputs: Opportunity assignments by estimator and minimum earned hours assignment to production management
