What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Lead position at The Brave Warrior Project?
The Program Lead serves as a Lead assistant to BWP's Coordinators to provide care and supervision of children and adults who have developmental disabilities, including but not limited to: autism, intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, and epilepsy and who also engage in challenging behaviors. The Program Lead performs work at BWP (The Brave Warrior Project) center and works under the Program Coordinators. All hours worked should/must be documented by the nonexempt employee.
Up to 30 hours per week - non exempt employee
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
● Effectively and promptly communicates with the BWP PrograCoordinator and/or Executive Director in the event that situations arise for which the employee is unprepared or unsure how to proceed.
● Immediately consults with the Executive Director or BWP Respite Coordinator in the event of an unusual occurrence; prepares or supports preparation of Special Incident Reports within 24 hours of occurrence of such an event.
● Maintains current certification in CPR, First Aid, Safety Care Training, and Food Handlers Card.
● Has good understanding and can effectively apply the principles from Safety-Care Training
● Participates in intakes with Respite Coordinator to better understand participants and provide exceptional care
● Performs duties of the Program Coordinator when needed and communicated
● Complies with The Brave Warrior Projects Policies, procedures, and guidelines.
● Assists assigned individuals with basic tasks necessary including but not limited toileting, feeding, participating in recreation activities.
● Provides encouragement and praise to support positive behavior.
● Prepares meals and snacks, cleans up dishes and utensils, and may feed individuals.
● Maintains clear understanding of rules of the center as well as program rules.
● Maintains confidentiality regarding program participants, his/her family, family activities, and any records pertaining to BWP families and Participants which become
● Ensures the personal safety of individuals by providing appropriate, nurturing personal care
● Admin duties such as but not limited to, scheduling, office admin, and communicating openings with families.
● Accurately maintains written records or notes. Documents incidents and ABC template for review by Program Coordinators.
● Maintains alertness to signs of suspected child abuse; follows mandated child and elder abuse reporting laws.
● Works a schedule which may incorporate providing services to multiple families, including during the evening, on weekends, or in the early morning.
● Communicates professionally with program participants, guardians, parents, and others encountered in the course of work.
QUALIFICATIONS and Experience preferred
● Minimum of one year ‘s worth of combined education and experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities who also exhibit challenging behaviors.
Requirements:
● Knowledge of Autism and other developmental disabilities.
● Bilingual
● Appropriate responses when an individual is exhibiting behavior which may pose a danger to his/herself or others.
● Must be 18 years of age.
● Must have a high school diploma or GED
● Must be able to pass a criminal history review, including submitting fingerprints.
● Obtain/maintain first aid certification and CPR certification (online certification not acceptable).
● Ability to obtain food handlers permit
● Ability to work an assigned schedule which supports the center schedule. Hours frequently are during mornings, afternoons, weekends and/or evenings and will reflect a schedule to meet the family’s needs.
● Personal mobility and physical abilities to work safely with individuals whose behavior may be dangerous to themselves and others.
● Ability to obtain food handlers permit
● Ability to work an assigned schedule which supports the center schedule. Hours frequently are during mornings, afternoons, weekends and/or evenings and will reflect a schedule to meet the family’s needs.
● Personal mobility and physical abilities to work safely with individuals whose behavior may be dangerous to themselves and others.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 25 – 30 per week
