Paralegal
Fast-paced, growing law firm with multiple locations is looking to expand and add a Paralegal to its firm. Areas of practice include criminal law, civil litigation, personal injury law, wills and estates, family law.
Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative support to one or more lawyers and/or paralegals
- Staff multiple phone lines, take messages and redirect calls when appropriate; use texting, billing, and case management software where appropriate
- Handle extensive client contact, both via phone, email, and in-person
- Conduct initial screenings of clients, facilitate electronic intakes, transcription during attorney/client meetings, drafting motions and petitions for attorneys
- Prepare affidavits, file pleadings, conduct research and trial preparation
- Follow-up on client billing and accounts and meticulous documentation of communications
- Prepare and manage multiple calendars/agendas and ensure deadlines are met
- Work effectively with a diverse group of clients
- Take files to clerks and courthouses and other errands as needed
Qualifications:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure
- Highly organized with ability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong project management and organizational skills, focused attention on detail, completed follow-up on tasks, and the ability to work independently on projects with minimal supervision
- Proficient technology skills, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, Dropbox, and Google Calendar. Technology literacy and willingness to learn new practice technologies and software is required
- Experience with Clio preferred
- Experience in criminal law and wills and estates preferred
- Strong work ethic and professionalism are required
- Ability to manage confidential information and sensitive situations with tact and discretion
- Solid understanding of, and demonstrated ability to comply with, confidentiality requirements
- A valid driver’s license and a good driving record as use of firm’s vehicles may be required
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $15.00 per hour
