School Nurse
Faculty & Staff at the Cathedral Preschool, founded in 1970, are part of a collaborative and supportive faculty with a common goal of continuously improving a great school. This is a professional, at-will position with responsibility for providing nursing care and health counseling to students and families. The School Nurse must strive to promote the vision and purpose of The Cathedral Preschool. Work is performed under the supervision of the Preschool Director.
Hours: 8:30-1:30 Tuesday, Thursday ; 8:30-12:30 pm Friday (Possibility of a 5 day position)
DESCRIPTION, RESPONSIBILITIES, & DUTIES
- Administer medication, treat injuries and ailments, serving as the first point of contact in a student-related medical emergency.
- Develop plans for student care based on assessment, intervention, and identification of outcomes. This may include treatment of those with chronic illnesses, disabilities and mental health conditions. This role also serves as a consultant to other school professionals, such as teachers and administrators.
- Make recommendations to the Preschool Director regarding COVID-19 protocols pertaining to school health.
- Serve as the first point of contact for assessment of student and employee reported health screening symptoms for COVID and/or reports of COVID exposure, and work with the Preschool Director to make protocol determinations and isolation decisions.
- Collaborate with the Director to develop student health policies, oversee infection control measures and immunizations, and actively participate in school safety plans that address school emergencies, injury prevention and safety.
- Maintain/organize student health records, providing regular communication with faculty/staff and parents to proactively ensure the school’s priority of the physical health of its community.
- Oversee school supply ordering, collaborating with the Office Logistics Coordinator.
- Ensure that supplies and materials in the resource room are properly stocked in an orderly fashion.
- Manage the faculty/staff reimbursement process.
- Perform other tasks pertinent to the regular operation of the school such as carpool duty, and general office assistance, etc.
A bachelor’s degree (BSN) and registered nurse (RN) certification is required. Experience with children is required. Certification in CPR, AED, and First Aid training and the ability to train faculty and staff is a plus.

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
