Overview

The Assistant Director of Young Alumni Engagement will be responsible for increasing engagement with our young alumni by developing programs that engage recent graduates. By engaging constituents on campus and in key markets, as well as through natural milestones like reunions, the assistant director will help ensure we have an engaged and willing donor base.

 

The Assistant Director will work with other members of the Alumni Engagement team, colleagues within University Advancement, and campus partners to develop and execute engaging and diverse programming both on campus and in our key markets that attract young alumni and donors.

 

The Assistant Director will partner with our Student Alumni Leadership group to plan programming that engages students and connects them to the Alumni Association.

 

The Assistant Director will support University fundraising efforts by conducting discovery visits with potential alumni volunteers and donors to the University.

 

Some travel is required with up to 35% of the time spent outside the office for events or visiting with alumni and friends of the university. Visits and events mostly consist of travel in the DMV area and East Coast with potential travel to the Midwest, West Coast, and South.

 

The Assistant Director will work with the Division of Enrollment Management to leverage young alumni in the admissions process, using alumni to help identify and attract qualified students to CatholicU and help convert them to Cardinals.

 

The Assistant Director could also serve as staff liaison to designated offices/constituents; staff designated committees, and other duties as required.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the recruitment of alumni volunteers across the country.
  • Work with the Alumni Engagement team to plan and implement a robust list of programming in the University’s key markets, focusing on events that engage current and prospective young alumni donors.
  • In collaboration with the Student Alumni Leadership group, plan programming that engages  current students and connects them with alumni.
  • Plan programming that specifically targets recent grads and keeps them connected to CatholicU. Explore the need for a young alumni network.
  • Conduct at least 75 visits with alumni; focusing on potential board members, speakers, and unassigned prospects for discovery.
  • Utilize Raiser’s Edge (RE) database to document communications, visits, and other relevant information about donor and prospect moves management. Effectively communicate results of contacts to appropriate Advancement and University staff.
  • Collaborate with Enrollment Management on diversifying and expanding our applicant pool. Work with the Office of Admissions to promote the Alumni Association at programs such as Odyssey Day and Orientation. Collaborating with the Office of

  • Have input and responsibility for the planning of Cardinal Weekend activities and other university events as needed. This role will be responsible for supporting at least one reunion class for each reunion cycle.
  • Attend necessary board meetings and other key functions of the alumni engagement team as needed.
  • Attend University events and functions, including but not limited to Cardinal Weekend and Commencement, representing the Division of University Advancement as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree required and one (1) to two (2) years experience in higher education, non-profit or similar work setting, or applicable volunteer experience in lieu of work experience. Experience dealing with volunteer management, alumni relations, event management, fundraising, or related responsibilities. Previous alumni relations work or fundraising is desired. Experience in event management and volunteer management is desirable.

 

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Google for Education, and ability to learn new software programs and functions including donor database and online community
