Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineering Manager to join our team to lead the Software Engineering Division.  The primary focus of the Software Division is the development of infrastructure and application software that enables safety and mission critical systems in the domains of space exploration, intelligence, and defense systems.  As Division Leader you will be responsible for enabling the careers of over 80 technical staff and will play a key role in defining research and development investment objectives to support customer and Division goals.

Responsibilities:

• Manage training and infrastructure budgets
• Support project team leads to ensure that projects are delivered on schedule and within budget
• Drive organizational change toward more efficient software development
• Manage the maintenance of software best practice policies, procedures, and infrastructure
• Lead recruitment and hiring
• Work with Program Offices to direct Internal Research and Development (IRAD) investments
• Coordinate work with other managers and staff
• Create, manage and execute the software technology roadmap

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:   

• Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related  
• 15 years of relevant experience in leadership for developing mission critical software systems. 
• Demonstrated ability of building and leading high performing teams
• Demonstrated record of individual and group mentorship
• A passion for innovation
• Commitment to helping others
• Work experience as an Engineering Manager or similar role
• Analytical skills for evaluating information carefully and solving complex problems
• Communication skills for overseeing staff and working with other management personnel
