Job Description: Position Summary: The Director of Academic Affairs is a full-time staff member who reports to the Assistant Campus Dean for the Southern California Campuses. This position provides administrative support to the Assistant Campus Dean, Department Chairs and Lead Faculty in addition to providing daily management of the Office of Academic Affairs. The Director serves as a liaison between Academic Affairs and other departments such as the academic programs, library, student services, human resources, grants and finance. The Director works with the Assistant Campus Dean on a variety of departmental, campus and national projects and collaborates with the Assistant Campus Dean to establish policies, procedures and systems to develop and maintain Academic Affairs for the Campus. Leadership, project management, flexibility, creative problem solving, valuing diversity, and strong communication skills are essential requirements for this position. Key Responsibilities: Provide daily management of the Office of Academic Affairs and develop an academic calendar and project timeline for all academic projects Develop and implement timelines for accreditation submissions Assist with data collection and analysis, report writing and planning for institutional and programmatic accreditation Work with faculty and grant team members to ensure that timelines are met Develop an electronic file system for contracts, workload forms, external work documents, and liability insurance In collaboration with the Department Chairs, develop efficient schedule templates that maximize class capacities, cross-listing and schedules that ensure student completion Assist with development, revision, analysis and implementation of TCSPP’s academic personnel policies and procedures Support reporting for Program Effectiveness Review for each academic program and the campus meta review Ensure collection and dissemination of course evaluations and other assessments instruments/reports Support the Assistant Campus Dean in the administration and tracking of Academic Department budgets, including making projections of costs based on enrollment data. Provide oversight and management to the Department Managers. Coordinate and support communication between Academic Affairs and National, campus and departmental constituencies Support faculty promotion, faculty grants and other initiatives in collaboration with Faculty Council chairs Build a sense of community, engagement and loyalty among the highest quality adjunct faculty to reduce turnover and increase consistency in courses taught by adjuncts Monitor adjunct faculty performance and development, provide meaningful feedback and support to them as well other involved parties (e.g., Department Chairs, Institutional Research, Vice President of Executive and Professional Education) Perform other duties as assigned Position Qualifications: Graduate degree in Higher Education, Organizational and/or Industrial Psychology, General and/or Applied Psychology, Business Administration, or related discipline 3 years’ experience in higher education and administration Expertise in the advancement of collegiate teaching and different styles and modalities, such as in person and online, preferably at the graduate level Knowledge of and experience with higher education systems Experience in adult learning and knowledge of adult development Program Development experience in Higher Education Project Management experience (PMP preferred) Management knowledge and skills Experience with evaluation of learning outcomes and program effectiveness Ability to provide executive support to the Assistant Campus Dean in a professional manner and to work regularly with Department Chairs Excellent verbal/written communication skills, and analytical skills Ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality in all matters Commitment to innovation, and ability to exercise process and continuous quality improvement, with an emphasis on collaborative teamwork and high standards of customer service Flexibility as a self-starter who takes initiative and accountability for projects; sound judgment, and the ability to make independent decisions with little supervision Ability to interact effectively with diverse members of the institutional community and outside constituencies, including state officials and alumni Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and to respond with precision and accuracy to deadlines having a short duration Willingness to provide after-hour and flexible support as needed Highly organized and shows exceptional attention to detail Showcase and display high level of emotional intelligence, interpersonal and professional relational skills Technologically savvy and is proficient with utilizing different platforms to manage projects and deadlines Disclaimer: The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.
