Job Title: Adult Probation Officer II
General Description:
Performs a full range of duties related to probation case management, interviewing probationers, report writing and providing testimony in the Chickasaw Nation District Court.
Supervision Received: Supervisory Probation Officer
Supervision Exercised: None
Supervision Essential Job Functions:
- Meet with and interview probationers and/or their families to assess progress.
- Evaluate probationers to establish the best course of rehabilitation.
- Provide probationers with resources such as housing and job training.
- Monitor, supervise and report on cases involving probationers.
- Implements and track compliance with court-ordered services and terms of probation.
- Complete pre-sentence investigation reports and makes sentencing recommendations to the Court as requested.
- Prepare reports to the Court, attend Court hearings and furnish testimony when needed.
- Document and report probation violations and furnish reports to the prosecutor.
- Prepare and maintain Court documents and case files.
- Make referrals to appropriate agencies and provide crisis intervention.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Preferred - Must have interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with a good working knowledge of and familiarity with commonly used concepts of federal Indian law and the criminal justice system. Preferred - Must be willing to stay up to date on technology and skills development. Preferred - Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to manage multiple priorities and pressures. Preferred - Demonstrate excellence in customer service. Preferred - Work effectively with all team members and leadership. Preferred - Maintain a positive work environment. Preferred - Demonstrate ingenuity in problem solving. Preferred - Complete work accurately and in a timely manner. Preferred - Ensure compliance with tribal policies and procedures. Preferred - Maintain strict confidentiality. Preferred - Collect and maintain data as required. Preferred - Must adhere to requirements of the Chickasaw Nation Code.
Education:
Bachelors Required - degree in criminal justice or a related program from an accredited university.
Training And Experience:
(3 -5 years) - of experience in adult probation is required
(3 -5 years) - of experience managing specialty cases such as sex offender and GPS..
Prior supervisory experience preferred.
Prior Law Enforcement experience preferred.
Licenses, Certifications, Other:
Must be able to complete pre-employment drug test with a negative result.
Must be able to complete sensitive background check.
Work Environment:
