Software Engineering Advisor

Contribute as a Full-Stack Engineer to a dynamic team developing a web application for modeling complex contracts with health-care providers. The application allows end-users to model claim datasets against hypothetical future contracts and existing contracts to understand how changes in terms can impact future healthcare costs.

KEY CHARACTERISTICS

• You will develop full stack applications that are scalable, robust, and thoughtfully designed. You are comfortable with all layers of the stack, from the database to the front-end.
• You will be involved in the full software development lifecycle, from design to implementation.
• You can breakdown a wireframe into components.
• You build components in modular, reusable fashion that makes it easy to re-use.
• You are comfortable with all CSS syntax to style components to match the design of the application.
• You will ship production code to a large customer base, and will take full ownership of your work, including testing and deployments.
• You will collaborate with other software engineers, domain experts, and end-users, to build the right solutions that address our business needs. You know how to navigate an organization to find the people and answers you need.
• You know how to make engineering trade-offs and how to communicate them to others. You can prioritize many competing tasks on an aggressive timeline.
• You are passionate about learning – about healthcare as well as technology.
• You are entrepreneurial, business-minded, and are willing to take risks and advocate new ideas

REQUIREMENTS 

• 2 years being part of Agile teams – Scrum or Kanban
• 2 years with scripting languages: JavaScript, Python, R, Ruby, Perl, etc.
• 2 years in Web development frameworks: React, Angular, Vue, etc.
• RDBMS knowledge (MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.) and experience working with large data sets
• In-depth knowledge of JavaScript, CSS, HTML and front-end languages
• Knowledge of REACT tools including React.js, Webpack, Enzyme, Redux, and Flux
• Knowledge of performance testing frameworks including Mocha and Jest
• Excellent troubleshooting skills
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science preferred or the equivalent in education and experience

BONUS POINTS FOR ANY OF THE FOLLOWING

• CI/CD experience (Jenkins, Ansible, etc.) and a TDD mindset
• Cloud infrastructure experience (AWS or other)
• Prior healthcare experience

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.
