The Position
The City of Cedar Park is seeking a part-time Library Generalist on the Circulation Team. As a part-time Library Generalist you help us make sure that no matter what time someone enters the Library they encounter expert help and a welcoming smile.
Schedule: 20 hours per week
- Provides customer service to Library users in person and on the telephone;
- Answers informational, directional and reference questions for all ages regarding the Library's resources;
- Assists patrons in circulation related services, such as establishing and renewing Library memberships, checking out of Library materials, interlibrary loan requests, and reserving books;
- Assists patrons of all ages with technology support including access to computers; use of online resources; use of computer software; and use of photocopier, scanner and fax machine;
- Assists patrons of all ages in navigating the Library online catalog;
- Assists in receiving and sorting returned Library materials;
- Assists in shelving Library materials when needed;
- Assists in processing and receiving new Library materials, and repairing damaged Library materials;
- Provides administrative support to assigned supervisors by performing various clerical tasks;
- Provides administrative support to librarians for collection development and maintenance;
- Collects payments at circulation desk;
- Attends meetings and training sessions;
- Performs security, light cleaning, and straightening tasks necessary to open and close the Library facility;
- Prepares communications, reports, and mailings;
- Assists in Library outreach and marketing;
- Performs a variety of other office management functions;
- Provides support for Library programs, including preparing materials, setting up and cleaning up program spaces, and assisting during events;
- Assists in compiling statistics relating to various programs and services;
- Designs and prepares promotional materials and monthly book displays; and
- Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.
Acceptable Experience, Training, Certifications and Licenses
Minimum qualifications include high school graduation or its equivalent. Prefer some experience working in a public library (employee or volunteer).
