JOB SUMMARY
Position is responsible for assisting The Operations Manager with the facility and maintenance needs of The Lerner Theatre and other venues as requested. The ability to take and apply instructions, independent management and judgment relating to the varied duties of the job is crucial. Focus on building and equipment upkeep, with accountability of completion, and clear communications of building needs are required. The capability of working internally and within the city departments to accomplish the maintenance needs of the facility is imperative. Coordination with equipment vendors, city departments, as well as The Lerner Department Head, Tech and Facilities Manager and team at The Lerner, are vital to this position. Work hours will vary based on facility needs as coordinated with Operations and Building Manager.



PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist construction, repair, and maintenance of various curtains, fixtures, stage settings, and equipment.
  • Assist the Operations and Building Manager with repair and maintenance of electrical equipment and circuits. Coordinate any needed major repairs to such equipment.
  • Perform related maintenance duties as needed demands.
  • Keep running inventory of all onsite supplies needed in building.
  • Assist Operations and Building Manager with maintaining HVAC systems as assigned.
  • Must be able to respond to maintenance emergency on an on-call basis



OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate with the Operations and Building Manager regarding job duties, work schedule, equipment, and staffing needs, etc.
  • Maintain needed records including scheduling of task and status check lists relating to job functions.



EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Four (4) years experience in the operation and maintenance of facility management



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge and implementation of applicable safety precautions and procedures.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations.
  • Basic Knowledge of HVAC
  • Ability to patch drywall and touch up paint.
  • Ability to follow instruction and follow through with instruction on maintenance, scheduling and facility necessities as assigned by Supervision.
  • Must have working knowledge of electrical circuits, contractors, etc. low voltage through high voltage
  • Must have the ability to read and comprehend general maintenance manuals.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to perform job requirements without constant supervision.
    • Must be capable of learning new techniques when properly instructed.



PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND VISUAL SKILLS
  • Ability to work using all types of lifts and equipment.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work on overhead scaffolding, “A” ladder, and cat walks of up to 70’ in height.
  • Skills in the use of hand tools essential to the work involved.
  • Ability to work extended hours
  • Ability to work under adverse conditions, such as loud noise, heat, cold, and outdoor weather as needed.



WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Ability to work under stress and a fast pace and always maintain a pleasant attitude at the same time. Always treat the public kindly. Work is performed in 40 plus hours per week. Please note that some weeks may exceed this anticipated average.



DRUG TEST REQUIRED
The City of Elkhart is a Drug Free Workplace. Therefore, a post offer, pre-employment drug screen is required. Random drug testing may be conducted after employment.
