Full-Time Office Assistant
The École is an independent, French-American bilingual school serving an international community of Maternelle-to-Middle School students in New York City's Flatiron District. The school offers an academic, bilingual program and has a student body of more than 300 students from Pre-Nursery through 8th Grade (ages 2-13). We are currently recruiting a full-time office assistant to perform a variety of secretarial, clerical, and administrative duties in support of the operation of the school and in support of the principal, staff, students, and parents. The position will be based in our administrative office in The École's Elementary and Middle School Building at 111 East 22nd Street.
Duties include
- Performing clerical tasks: welcoming visitors to the school, answering phone calls and emails, taking and delivering messages, providing information, directing calls where necessary, greeting visitors, and directing them to the appropriate destination.
- Working closely with the administrative and academic leadership teams to keep an inventory of office and classroom supplies and order new materials as needed
- Acting as a liaison between parents and the school: supervising lateness, early pick up, and contacting parents in the case of student illness, etc.
- Assisting with other duties as needed: supervising recess, lunch, dismissal, etc.
- Collaborating with the Director of Finance and the Director of Administration to keep spreadsheets and administrative records up to date
- Gathering and maintaining sensitive files: e.g. student records and health forms
- Organizing transportation and tickets for field trips, renting venues when necessary
- Taking part in camps during the October, February, and April breaks, and during the summer vacation

- Is capable of managing time efficiently
- Demonstrates ability to multi-task effectively.
- Works well with a variety of students, administrators, and parents
- Possesses excellent computer skills and knowledge of word processing programs, spreadsheets, etc.
Education and Experience
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Bachelor's degree is recommended.
- Previous work experience in an office setting is required.
- Experience in bilingual/dual language and international, independent education is preferred
- proficiency in french is an asset but not required.
Salary range of $50,000 - $60,000 depending on education and experience, as well as benefits. The position starts in August 2022.
