A hostess's job description includes a variety of tasks, such as :

• Greeting guests with a warm greeting when they arrive and thank them when they leave.
• Answering phone calls.
• Providing wait times and managing seating chart.
• Seating guests based on availability and balance the number of tables in each server's section.
• Providing menus.
• Assisting wait staff : A hostess may assist wait staff as needed.
• Good organizational and people skills, and be able to multitask.
