What are the responsibilities and job description for the Counselor of Outpatient Services - Community Based position at The Council on Recovery?
Description
This licensed counselor will provide field based services that specifically addresses substance use including screening, assessing, education, brief intervention, and individual, family, or group substance abuse counseling. Services provided will primarily be in home or at community partner locations including but not limited to Harris Center of Mental Health and IDD, Harris County Psychiatric Center, Department of Family Protective Services, Harris County Juvenile Justice Services, Felony Mental Health Court, VA Medical Center, Substance Use Disorder Treatment facilities
Responsibilities:
Clinical
- Provide counseling/therapeutic services including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment (individual, family, and group counseling) for clients’ experience social/behavioral/mental health issues
- Provide follow-up counseling and case management of client referrals
- Available to assist with clients that present to The Council for help regardless of the reason
- Actively participate in clinical case staffing
- Assist with other program and departmental duties as requested.
Administrative
- Meet productivity requirements established by supervisor and agency
- Ensure documentation of client and service data into designated health record systems in a timely manner
- Respond to subpoenas received from civil court and provides court testimony as required
- Ensure compliance with all agency, state, or federal guidelines and procedures as required
- Communicate and consult with co-workers/team and outside agencies as needed
- Attend meetings, trainings, and workshops at The Council and outside locations as requested
- Other duties as assigned
Community
- Represent The Council on Recovery in a professional manner at all times
- Maintain positive relationships with clients, agencies and referral sources
- Act as an ambassador for The Council at all times
- Other duties as assigned

Requirements
Education
- High School Diploma/Equivalent, Bachelor’s preferred
- Licensure required- LCDC, LPC OR LCSW. Will consider LMFT-Associate or LPC-Intern with experience and working towards licensure.
- Reliable transportation
- Valid and current automobile insurance required for all vehicles driven for work purposes
