Sufficient education, training, and experience to demonstrate the possession and direct application of the following knowledge and abilities:
Training and Experience Note: The required knowledge and abilities are attained through training and experience equivalent to possession of a Bachelor's Degree. Relevant analytical, administrative, lead, supervisory or management experience that includes interpreting rules and regulations, gathering data and formulating recommendations, and report writing can substitute for education on a year-for-year basis;
and
Two (2) years of experience as a volunteer coordinator, event coordinator, recreation coordinator, volunteer leader or recreation program supervisor with a public or private agency, that included at least one (1) year coordinating or planning volunteer events or services.
OR
Training and experience equivalent to possession of a two-year college degree (60 semester units or 90 quarter units)
and
Four (4) years of experience as a volunteer coordinator, event coordinator, recreation coordinator, volunteer leader or recreation program supervisor with a public or private agency provider, that included at least one (1) year coordinating or planning volunteer events or services.
Special Requirements-
Ability to travel to and from various locations during the course of work and, if driving, possession of a valid California Driver's License prior to appointment and the ability to qualify for and maintain a County driver authorization.
Knowledge of:-
Methods and materials used in volunteer programs;

Principles and practices of first aid and safety;

Fund raising and event planning techniques;

Program development, evaluation, and promotion, particularly as it applies to volunteer programs;

Interviewing techniques;

Computer applications, such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
Ability to:-
Plan, develop, implement, coordinate, organize, and evaluate volunteer programs for a department or agency;

Recruit, screen, place, coordinate, motivate, organize, train, recognize, and track volunteers;
-
Plan, organize, and direct the efforts of volunteers;
-
Establish and maintain connections and network within the community to form effective partnerships;
-
Develop systems for recruitment, training, placement, supervision, evaluation and recognition of volunteers;
-
Track volunteer activity and target outcome expectations;
-
Follow a work-flow process and utilize systems that will allow for the orderly, timely and professional completion of tasks as requested;

Recruit required volunteers and commit them to one-day, short-term and long-term volunteer projects;
-
Work with individuals from diverse backgrounds;
-
Deal effectively and develop and maintain cooperative relationships with volunteers, employees, management, the public, and representatives of other groups and organizations;

Speak and write effectively and clearly;

Prepare and maintain clear and concise records and reports, including budget recommendations and justifications;

Operate a personal computer and its software;
-
Read, interpret and understand the laws, ordinances, and regulations relevant to perform the functions described above.
