DSHS FFA Revenue Agent 2

Share your collection and negotiation experience with the Facility, Finance, and Analytic (FAA) Administration's Office of Financial Recovery as a Revenue Agent 2.DSHS Revenue Agents provide specialist recovery activities for statewide receivable management and certain debt collection services for DSHS, Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF), and Health Care Authority (HCA).

As a Revenue Agent 2, you will use your investigative skills to identify sources, gather and document facts, evaluate information, and draw conclusions from the information obtained. Work includes investigation, negotiation and settlement, liens, attachment of assets, orders to withhold and deliver, seizure and debt forgiveness. You will utilize professional collection techniques supported by State and Federal laws, debt determination regulations, and your detailed understanding of program goals that recover money on behalf of taxpayers.

Some of what you will do:

  • Solicit repayment for overpaid services or funds incurred by DSHS Providers
  • Make voluntary payment agreements by interviewing clients and determining their ability to pay
  • Ensure that debts are legally served; the debtor received notice required by law, and understands their due process rights
  • Negotiations and settlements
  • Use skip tracing and asset research methods
  • Answer calls explaining laws, rules and regulations to assist Providers in

understanding how the overpayment occurred and why they must pay the department back

What we are looking for:

  • Knowledge of investigation procedures and practices, collection laws and procedures, legal rights and remedies in civil law and basic accounting practices
  • Knowledge of investigative skills to identify sources, gather and document facts, evaluate information and draw conclusions from the information obtained
  • Ability to independently manage workloads, performing daily quality case management for many different cases within specified timelines
  • Experienced in utilizing professional collection techniques supported by State and

Federal laws, debt determination regulations, and have a detailed understanding of program goals, regulations, and the mission of DSHS

  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to keep calm in tense situations
  • Successful negotiation skills
  • Must have the ability to work from home, dependent on business needs

Professionals with the following should apply:

  • A Bachelor's degree involving major study in business administration, accounting, public administration, police science, economics, criminal justice, sociology, psychology, law, or closely related field, AND one year of work experience in collection of civil debts, or other directly related fields, such as personal or corporate finance, law enforcement, adjustment of claims

OR

  • Five years of work experience in collection of civil debts, personal or corporate finance, law enforcement, or adjustment of claims, or a directly related field

OR

  • One year of experience as a Revenue Agent 1
