Integrated Behavioral Health Clinician- Pediatrics

JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective:
The Integrated Behavioral Health Clinician (Bilingual English and Spanish) is a member of the Pediatric / OB-GYN Clinics within Health Services. They support Dimock’s mission which is to heal and uplift individuals, families and communities. Dimock’s vision is to redefine the model of a healthy community by creating equitable access to comprehensive health care and education. The Integrated Behavioral Health Clinician helps advance this vision by providing individual mental health therapy services and group therapy services oriented towards recovery from mental health disorders, along with associated case management and care coordination. These are provided within the structure of the Primary Care setting in order to break down barriers to access to mental health treatment.

Essential Functions

• Providing comprehensive diagnostic evaluations and brief behavioral health interventions for patients within the primary care setting

• Providing longitudinal individual therapy to panel of English and Spanish speaking patients, largely in the Pediatric population and with some coverage of Integrated Behavioral Health needs for our OB-GYN clinic, as well.

• Coordinating with members of the patient’s care team as needed (Primary Care, Psychiatry, Resource, e.g.)

• Providing case management, including working with our team of resource specialists

• Documenting clinical work and communications on integrated electronic medical record, including regular treatment planning

• Participating in trainings, clinical supervision, and quality improvement activities

Work Environment
Partially office-based providing in-person care and partially over telehealth, which may be provided from employee’s home, at the Clinical Director and Program Manager’s discretion.

Physical Demands

Duties may require standing and walking, or sitting for long periods of time. Light lifting may be required.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm with one “late day” starting at 11:00am and ending at 7:00pm. A typical day may involve scheduled individual patient visits, phone calls with patients or collaterals, care coordination with other members of the Pediatric team or outside members of the patient’s care team, providing school based therapy, completing required clinical documentation, completing insurance authorizations or other time-sensitive administrative documentation.

About Dimock

The Dimock Center is a Federally-Qualified Health Center in the Roxbury neighborhood of Boston serving a predominately African-American and Latinx patient population. Our innovative Integrated Behavioral Health program is hiring a full-time clinician in its Pediatric/OBGYN Clinic. Our Integrated Behavioral Health service is a central part of how we approach primary care provision.

The individual applying should be a licensed clinical social worker (LICSW) or licensed mental health clinician (LMHC) or holding a Master's degree that would lead to either licensure (MSW/LCSW or MHC). An ideal candidate would be culturally competent and able to adapt therapeutic interventions to an ethnically, linguistically and racially diverse patient population. Spanish language fluency is required. Previous experience in an integrated medical/behavioral health treatment setting is preferred, but not required.

Required Education and Experience

1. Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) or Mental Health Counseling (MHC)

2. Licensure as LCSW, LICSW, or LMHC or progressing towards these licensure levels

3. Completion of appropriate internships as dictated by Master’s Degree

4. Experience in a community health or integrated Behavioral Health setting is a plus

5. Experience in a Pediatrics setting is a plus

6. Spanish language skill is strongly desired
