The Dog House, LLC in Bloomington, Indiana is currently hiring a facility manager to assist us in running our cage-free dog boarding and daycare facility. The Dog House is staffed 24 hours per day, 365 days per year and has been serving our community since 2005. Duties include:
Ensure operations run smoothly on a day-to-day basis. Work closely and directly with the Owner to improve on operations. Provide leadership to all employees that ensures the best possible care for dogs and human clients.
Required Qualifications:
- Previous management experience
- Previous experience working with animals in a professional capacity
- Working knowledge of dog behavior
- An understanding of dog energy and how that works in a cage-free play environment
- Positive Can-do! attitude
- Thrives in a fast paced and changing work environment
- Strong leadership skills (ability to use judgment, delegate, and be supportive)
- Good decision maker
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time effectively
- Outstanding written/verbal communication
- Outstanding customer service skills
- Ability to be on feet for 8 hours at a stretch
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Ability to run/move/react quickly
- A love for dogs
- Desire to manage a team of people
- Basic computer competence (email, basic software, etc)
- Pet CPR Certified (provided by company)
- Weekend and some holiday availability required. This is a full-time position with occasional overtime.
Operations:
- Provide minute-to-minute work direction to employees to ensure theplayrooms are clean and running smoothly and safely in order to provide a great experience to dogs and clients.
- Assist on training new employees. Set clear expectations regardingcleaning, dog supervision, and customer service.
- Communicate with Owner for day-to-day operations and client requests.
- Monitor activities in all areas of the building, such as feeding, medications, enrichment services, etc.
Staffing Maintenance:
- Motivate employees to work hard and maintain high morale
- Communicate changes, expectations, initiatives etc. to employees
- Inform Owner of tardies, call-ins and other substandard work
- Have fun and keep things light but be professional and maintainprofessional boundaries with employees and clients at all times.
Training New Employees:
- Provide positive feedback and performance improvement suggestions to staff and for new staff make training adjustments as needed.
- Educate staff on dog behavior and specific personalities/needs of dogs in the building.
- Work with management to communicate, explain and train on new procedures.
Customer Service:
- Model and coach good customer service for employees
- Speak of clients and dogs in a positive light
- Build rapport with clients
- Handle escalated situations

Available shifts and compensation: We have available shifts all days of the week. Compensation is $23.00 - $26.00/hour.
