The Door is an unparalleled model for youth development, offering a comprehensive range of integrated services within a single site for nearly 11,000 New York City youth each year. By providing participants with our suite of integrated services, we seek to provide any motivated young person with the tools, resources, and opportunities needed to successfully transition to adulthood.
A major initiative within The Door, Broome Street Academy is a unique charter high school that prepares New York City’s most vulnerable youth for a successful future through rigorous academics paired with supports of The Door.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with Grant Manager & Senior Accountants to update various reports for assigned programs
- Accurately prepare vouchers and claims for timely submissions along with expenditure justifications
- Participate in budget preparation, modifications /maintenance, forecasting, and analyzing variances against fiscal guidelines
- Assist in preparation of program budgets/modifications in collaboration with senior accountants and grants managers in a timely manner
- Conduct routine analysis of the General Ledger, Balance Sheet accounts, Trial Balance and journal entry creation
- Maintain and organize contract documentation and work paper for periodic funding and annual audits
- Contribute in other assignments requested by management
Qualifications:
- Associates of Science in Accounting or related field is required
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required
- 1-2 years of Accounting experience (one year in not-for-profit) is required
- Detail oriented, good communication (oral and written) and analytical skills
- Prior experience with Intacct software preferred
- Ability to be flexible and to adjust works schedule to reflect varying accounting deadlines
Hours: Full time, 35 hours per week
Salary: Mid to high 40s, plus generous benefits package
