Scripps Company and Scripps Sports is seeking a Sideline Reporter and Host to Lead sideline reporting efforts during live sports events, provide comprehensive, expert analysis and engaging interviews. WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Provide live coverage from the sidelines during major sports events, including real-time updates, in-depth analysis, and exclusive interviews with athletes, coaches, and officials.
- Deliver crisp, clear, and engaging commentary to enhance the viewing experience of our audience.
- Conduct high-profile pre-game, halftime, and post-game interviews, building strong relationships with key sports figures to secure exclusive content.
- Collaborate with analysts and guest commentators to deliver balanced and insightful discussions.
- Host a magazine style show highlighting major league teams.
- Research and gather up-to-date information on teams, players, league standings, recent games, and upcoming matches.
- Prepare talking points, questions, and discussion topics for interviews and panel discussions.
- Stay informed about major news, trades, injuries, and other relevant events in the hockey world.
- Maintain journalistic integrity and accuracy in all reporting.
- Mentor and guide junior reporters and hosts, fostering an environment of learning and professional development.
- Actively engage with viewers through social media, live chats, and other interactive platforms, responding to questions and providing additional insights.
- Use social media effectively to promote coverage and connect with the audience.
- BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent years of experience preferred
- Generally, 5 years of experience in related field preferred
- Experience with live reporting, delivering high-stakes interviews, and leading discussions
- Exceptional communication, interviewing, and public speaking skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of sports and a deep passion for sports journalism
- Ability to stay poised and professional under pressure in live reporting situations
- Proficiency with broadcasting technology and social media platforms
- Multilingual abilities to engage a diverse audience
- Deep understanding of sports analytics and the ability to interpret and present statistics effectively
- Existing relationships with key figures in the sports industry
