What are the responsibilities and job description for the NONPROFIT DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS position at The Education Fund?
The Education Fund, a nonprofit organization with a 35 year history of helping students succeed, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Operations to join our team. The Director of Operations will play a pivotal role in driving the organization’s mission by providing strategic leadership in the areas of development/fundraising, program operations, administration, and financial management. This is a new position that will report directly to the President/CEO. The Director of Operations will be responsible for overseeing certain day-to-day operations of the organization with significant opportunity for growth.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the President/CEO to develop and implement operations strategies, policies, and procedures that align with the organization’s mission and objectives
- Become an active part of the development team, helping create and implement fundraising strategies/campaigns, and also writing/editing proposals as needed; as assigned, this includes identifying and cultivating relationships with donors/sponsors to secure financial support
- Manage and optimize internal processes to enhance productivity, streamline workflows, and improve operational efficiency to ensure programmatic success
- Oversee staff/programs, as assigned, and improve programmatic accountability systems, as needed, while also working with program managers to ensure coordination of initiatives
- Implement recruitment and onboarding process for new staff; organize training for all staff, and help the President evaluate, reward, incentivize, and develop staff
- Evaluate vendor and contractor relationships to ensure effective utilization of resources
- Work closely with the finance team to manage financial reporting, audits, and compliance with relevant regulations
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and partners, as needed/assigned
Preferred Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, social or human services, business administration, or related field; advanced degree preferred
· Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in nonprofit administration
· Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, project management skills, and ability to meet deadlines
· Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team as well as manage diverse teams
· Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to provide data-driven insights and recommendations to support decision making as well as ability to establish organizational goals, track progress, and adjust as needed
- Willing to foster a culture of accountability and ethical conduct within the organization
· Knowledge of the Miami-Dade education landscape
· Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, eBlast programs, and other technology/software programs and the ability and interest in learning new technology and applying it to nonprofit operations
· Strong desire to work for a nonprofit organization that improves public education
· Vehicle required to travel to main office, events, etc.
· Ability to attend some evening and weekend events
This is a full-time position. While we offer some flexibility to work from home, this position is mostly based in the office or in the field (visiting program sites, donors, partners, etc.).
Compensation is based on experience and includes health insurance, retirement, and vacation/sick leave benefits.
