What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nutrition Educator position at The Emergency Food Bank of Stockton/San Joaquin?
The purpose of the Nutrition Educator of the Emergency Food Bank (EFB) organization is to work in our Food-As-Medicine Programs. These programs are (1) our Future Well Communities Program that provides medically-tailored meal boxes, nutrition education, cooking demonstrations, both on ZOOM and live, for 500 referred diabetes patients who are seen by Community Medical Centers; (2) our Mobile Farmers Market (MFM) program that presents a daily delivering of produce along with a short, 15-minute cooking demonstration or nutrition education class with emphasis on friendly, courteous service to clients and volunteers. The Mobile Farmers Market visits two sites a day from a total of 62 throughout San Joaquin County; (3) our Food RX Program that provides medically-tailored meal boxes and nutrition education with cooking classes for patient with high blood pressure. The Food Bank partners with Abbott Fund, El Concilio, APSARA, University of the Pacific, and the Public Health Institute to create and execute these programs.
This position is full-time (35 hours weekly) working Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 3:30PM. #Nutrition #Cooking #TrainingandDevelopment #NutritionEducation #Diabetes Duties and Responsibilities Typical essential duties may include, but are not limited to: General Responsibilities Operate the MFM van/program and the educational classes. Organize the MFM operations, cleanliness/cleanup Operational Responsibilities Present the MFM program to clients at various off-site locations throughout San Joaquin County. Organize and arrange all equipment (tables, produce boxes) and supplies (bagged produce, brochures) required for set up at various locations.
Set up, prep and organize cooking demonstrations and/or nutrition education per site. Weigh and inventory all produce leaving and returning food to the Emergency Food Bank per site. Perform clean up at each site, properly clean all equipment and supplies, and return course materials/course food to the EFB. Execute the Food-As-Medicine Programs (2) by designing medically-tailored meal boxes, working with the provider to set up the production of those boxes, working with DoorDash to deliver 500 boxes every other week.
Teach general nutrition education classes to ZOOM, on-site and off-site clients. Maintain, set up and collect client records and surveys for grant purposes. Help/fill in with other EFB work requirements when work load requires, as directed by the Office Manager or CEO. Attend Community/Organization Health Fairs as a representative of the Emergency Food Bank.
Talk about and distribute information about the Organization’s services and programs. Additional hours may be required occasionally during the Organization’s activities and events, including holidays, evenings, and weekends. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Subject to pre-employment drug test.

Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and some training/coaching experience, or a combination of education and desire to learn how to become a successful nutrition educator Warehouse experience a plus, but not required.
