About The Engine
The Engine opened its doors in June of 2017 to founders of early-stage companies working on disruptive technology. Founded by MIT, The Engine’s mission is to provide capital, resources, and comprehensive support to help founders build the next generation of world-changing companies. Our new, state-of-the-art, 155,000 SF building in Central Square, Cambridge includes offices, meeting spaces, bio & chem labs, fabrication space, and prototyping labs.
Position Summary
The Director of Programs will lead our current program design and execution. We run programs for the different communities that we serve including but not limited to Whiteboard, Blueprint, and The Tough Tech Summit. This person will work with our team to support our residents, early stage entrepreneurs and their teams, and the Tough Tech community to provide relevant, useful and impactful programming. We will also develop and implement data collection, metrics, and impact results to drive results in our programming.

Job Responsibilities- Lead the strategy & development of current and new programs in alignment with the organization's goals and mission.
- Align program goals with the strategic objectives of the organization.
- Ensure programs are designed to meet the needs of the target audience.
- Collaborate across our team to implement programs to serve the needs of our many stakeholders and identify opportunities for program growth and improvement.
- Develop and maintain program content schedules, timelines, and budgets.
- Monitor and evaluate program performance to ensure goals are met.
- Supervise program managers, coordinators, and other staff.
- Foster a collaborative and productive team environment.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including partners, funders, and community members.
- Communicate program objectives, achievements, and challenges to stakeholders.
- Develop and manage program budgets.
- Establish evaluation frameworks to assess program effectiveness.
Job Qualifications- Mission aligned, excited to contribute to a team and portfolio working to solve global problems.
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant field (master's degree preferred).
- 8 years of experience in program management or a related field.
- Experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Ability to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Can thrive in a fast-paced environment and with a high degree of ambiguity.
- Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently.
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to think strategically and align programs with organizational goals.
- Familiarity with budgeting and financial management.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
