The Equitable Finance Company is seeking a self-directed, experienced Controller to undertake all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation, as well as development and oversight of internal control policies and procedures.
Oversee the month-end financial close and reporting process; financial planning and analysis, etc. Reconciling various reports and financial data, journal entries, financial statement preparation, payroll and corporate taxes and accounting staff supervision.
Requires thorough knowledge of general and cost accounting procedures in consumer finance including; Extensive Excel and General Ledger systems knowledge; Megasys software knowledge a plus; ability to perform in a fast paced high pressure environment, and manage long-distance functions and personnel; direct work of accounting staff to successfully meet financial deadlines; strong verbal and written communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the accounting and admin department for a consumer finance company; oversee procedures, policies, and controls to ensure the integrity of the financial results.
- Supervise accounting and finance; supervise all aspects of accounting, including financial planning and analysis, accounts payable and accounts receivable. This individual will be responsible to ensure that all policies, controls, and process improvement activities are successfully completed to support operational requirements.
- Partner with board members for financial and strategic planning and audits.
- Provide analytical and well documented reports for management team.
- Participate in the development of and support the company’s strategic plans.
- Oversee and maintain all company Right of Use Assets.
- Prepare departmental and consolidated financial analysis and reports for presentation to both internal and external stakeholders in both GAAP and non GAAP formats.
- Oversee and monitor company cash flow and reconciliation of bank accounts.
- Present financial information in dashboard format to Owners and Managers.
- Protect assets by establishing and monitoring internal controls.
- Maintaining Asset and equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and purchase and financing techniques.
- Tax planning and preparation for individual and all forms of business entities, multiple personal property returns.
- Maintain Administrative staff results by coaching and counseling employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
- Oversee payroll processing and validate accuracy.
- Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions.
- Protect operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.

Education Requirements:
- Proven working experience as a Controller.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
- Experience with creating financial statements.
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process.
- Field of Study: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- CPA required.
- 5 years of overall combined accounting experience.
- 2 years controller experience preferred.
